The Blue Ridge golf course was conceived and built in
1995 by Robert Grobusky. The land and house were originally
owned by his grandfather, Joseph Grobusky, and have been in the
family since 1920. The pro shop is in part of the original house
built in 1926. It has been upgraded and modernized (it has indoor
plumbing and bathrooms now!) while retaining the old home setting. A
couple of rocking chairs on the front porch still see a lot of use!
William B. Lewis, the course architect, commented how
well the location, layout, and people here all worked together in
harmony to bring about this major new recreation facility to Oconee
County. His experience of building over 70 golf courses in the
southeastern United States reflects in the design and challenge of
this exciting par 3 golf course. In 2003, the course was modified and
new 9th and 10th holes were added. |
